Dr. Qingtang Liu is presently a professor and doctoral supervisor in the Faculty of Educational Information Technology at Central China Normal University. Dr. Liu is the member of ISO/IEC JTC1 SC36, Audio Video coding Standard Workgroup of China (AVS), China ELearning Technology Standardization Committee (CELTSC) and Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). In addition, Dr. Liu is an expert in expert group for China Association of Higher Educational Technology and China Education management Informatization Committee. He is also the member of Teaching Guidance Committee for the major of animation and digital media of Education Ministry in China.
Dr. Liu’s research interests include e-learning, digital copyright protection and knowledge mining and services. He has undertaken 2 projects supported by Chinese national natural science foundation (NSF), 2 projects supported by national science and technology support program, 1 project supported by the High-Tech Research and Development (863) and other more than 10 provincial-level and ministerial-level projects. His contributions include: a) He proposed a regional education resources public service model, developed a remote service platform for education resources, and gave a solution for the balanced configuration and sharing of education resources. b) He proposed a method of classification and catalogue for rural education resources. This method can realize the standardized description, classification and processing of education resources. c) He proposed a rights description and copyright control mechanism for education resources and gave an integrated DRM solution which is applied successfully on educational resources management system. As the first or primary investigator, Dr. Liu received the provincial and city level Science and Technology Progress Award and Teaching Achievement Award for 3 times. More than 10 patents and software copyrights have been granted. And he published 3 books and over 50 academic papers in national and international academic journals.
