Resume

Wanluan Township in PingtungCounty is my home. My father is a retired employee of the Taiwan Railways Administration and my mother is a homemaker. They care deeply about me and are quite strict. In my family, etiquette, character, and ethics are of the utmost importance. Since I was little, I had always liked to consider, discover, and solve problems with adults. I found this form of learning very challenging as each problem can have more than one solution and everyone has their own way of thinking. In university, we founded a natural science club which taught us how to communicate, interact, and solve problems with others. Close to graduation, I took the opportunity to participate in a National Science Council research project lead by National Pingtung University of Education Professor Huey-Lien Kao that focused on the teaching competencies of elementary and middle school teachers. It allowed me to come in contact with elementary and middle school life and research on teaching natural science, which is the main motivation behind my decision to earn my Master's and Doctorate degrees. I am very grateful to my Master's advisor, Huey-Lien Kao, because I noticed that she took the time to counsel each member of the research team and realized that the quality of the results depends on the effort put into your research. During my research contemplations and writing, I found that I was able to put my whole heart into my research which led to the discovery of interesting, new questions. I believe that these questions can reflect the current situation of education; thus, I am willing to invest more time and effort into solving them.
After graduating from the Master's program, I enrolled in the National Kaohsiung Normal University Graduate Institute of Science Education where I met my advisor, Professor Jeng-Fung Hung. Professor Hung was an exemplary model of a teacher, an elder, a friend, and a scholar. During my time with him, I noticed that all of his students were diligent. Professor Hung often invited the entire class into his home to discuss and share opinions where we also grew to know his family. This showed me that academic pursuit can be closely integrated into our lives. In the classroom, Professor Hung often reminded us that our attitude towards research is extremely important, which revealed to me the requirements for a successful education. The relationship between knowledge, skills, attitude, and habits should be (knowledge + skills) attitude and habits = successful education. While earning my Doctorate, I learned that academic pursuit requires creativity, rigor, and determination as well as appreciation for research partners, assistants, and classmates. There are many teachers in our research team. I enjoy listening to their thoughts on teaching and found that each one has a rich teaching background. Thus, my Doctorate thesis conducted qualitative and quantitative comparative analyses on the teaching experiences of two teachers.
I completed my Doctorate studies in July of 2011 and am very grateful for the diligent training provided by my advisor. After completing my Doctorate thesis, I went into the military service and was stationed at the Daxi Inspection Office in YilanCounty as an ensign. During my one-year service, I continued to learn how to behave with integrity and handle affairs as I came to further appreciate the opportunities for academic research. I am grateful for National Chiao Tung University Institute of Education Professor Hsiao-Ching She for hiring me as a postdoctoral researcher as the research topic coincides with my studies. Now, I work at the School of Educational Information Technology, Central China Normal University.
