    The Vice-president of State University of New York at Oswego Visited CCNU

         On March 20th, Joshua McKeown, the vice-president for academic affairs of State University of New York at Oswego(SUNY Oswego), visited our university.The vice-president Wang Enke met with the delegation with the participation of the relevant officials of the Educational Information Technology Institute, the Teacher Education Institute and the International Cooperation and Exchange Service.Relevant leaders of our institute have made an in-depth communication with the delegation on the learning situation of the exchanges between State University of New York at Oswego and our institute and the international cultural exchange program of IT teaching.

         Mr.Wang first introduced the history of our school, the advantages of the discipline, the development of "One Body Two Wings", the intercollegiate communication and the implementation of the 13th five-year plan for internationalization.He stated that our school is now working on establishing strategic partnerships with world-renowned colleges and universities and forming a global strategic partnership network for our university.Mr Wang then reviewed the collaboration of our school with SUNY Oswego.He said that Huazhong University which is the predecessor of our school had frequently contacted with the American Alec Association and Harvard Yanjing University, and that established a good foundation for friendly cooperation between our university and American universities.In recent years, a series of practical cooperation with SUNY Oswego has been carried out in the fields of student exchange, teacher training and so on.Up to now, our school has selected four exchange students who were funded by the National Council for Studying Abroad to study in SUNY Oswego, and fifty seed teachers have participated in the innovative training of IT teaching.Also it is hoped that these two universities will, on the basis of good cooperation,actively expand their areas of exchange and launch new projects such as starting the International Workship of Information Technology Teaching in order to promote the further development of friendly exchanges between the two sides.

         Mr.Mckeown thanked us for the warm reception.He introduced the history of SUNY Oswego, and its philosophy of teaching, location, school scale and advantages of disciplines and research as well."When SUNY Oswego was first established, "said Mr.Mckeown, "it was a Normal college and its founder, Mr. Edward Shelton, actively promoted educational reform and advocated the integration of education and practice."After more than 150 years of development, the university now enjoys a high reputation in teaching, practice and research fields.A number of its majors have been certified internationally and domestically and the school has been ranked No. 44 in the latest ranking of universities in the northern United States."Tomorrow Plan" for the next five years proposed by SUNY Oswego aims to increase the influence of international education on students and also explores new ways to strengthen teachers and students' international exchange and cooperation in the university.SUNY Oswego always attaches importance to the efficient cooperation with Chinese colleges and universities and that its students can come to our school to participate in short-term exchange programs and build a closer cooperation between the two schools in the future, regarding our school as a close partner.

        Then, related leaders of our institute introduced the situation of the students selected and sent to study at SUNY Oswego by the institute. The newly applied international exchange program of IT teaching workshop was also mentioned, which was designed to improve students' innovative practical ability of carrying out a teaching method reform by means of information technology.The person in charge of the Teacher Education Development Center of the Teacher Education Institute introduced some relevant information and training results of sending seed teachers to SUNY Oswego to participate in the innovative training of IT teaching in the past three years.The Director of the International Department suggested that SUNY Oswego could increase the number of exchange students and expand the selection of majors while inviting teachers and students to participate in the third semester program and other cultural activities held by our school.

         Mr.Wang Enke and Mr.McKeown have reached a consensus on the use of flexible and diverse methods, the promotion of the student exchange programs in the long or short term and the solution of the unequal student exchange numbers.
